In 2027, a small house located in the heart of the hilltop village of Lieuche, in the Southern Alps, will open its doors for medium and long stays.
This project is currently being prepared. The house is not yet available for rent and no bookings are open at this time.
A place designed for those who want to slow down, recharge, and discover a different way of experiencing France.

LIEUCHE, A TIMELESS VILLAGE
Welcome to a different pace of life
As you follow a mountain road above the Gorges du Cians, a tiny hilltop village appears.
Lieuche.
An authentic village, surrounded by mountains, forests and wild landscapes.
You don’t end up here by chance.
You come to discover another side of the South of France. A more secret, wilder France, where stone villages seem to cling to the mountains and where time takes on a different dimension.
Built on a promontory above the lower Gorges du Cians, Lieuche is encircled by a ring of wooded mountains and linked to neighbouring villages by a network of footpaths.
A hilltop village in the heart of the mountains
At around 850 metres above sea level, Lieuche overlooks its mountain surroundings from its rocky spur.
Its old stone houses, landscapes and elevated position tell the story of the hilltop villages of the Southern Alps.
For centuries, these villages were built high up for security, sunshine and better use of farmland. Today, they mainly offer exceptional panoramas and a rare feeling: that of truly being somewhere else.
Here, calm isn’t a promise. It’s the landscape.
A discreet yet remarkable heritage
Lieuche is a small village, but its history is rich.
Once a fiefdom of the Grimaldi family from Beuil, the village church houses an exceptional artwork: the Annunciation altarpiece by Louis Bréa, dating from 1499.
A masterpiece of the Nice Renaissance preserved in the heart of a mountain village. One of those unexpected discoveries that make the Alpes d’Azur so charming.
The Gorges du Cians: nature on a grand scale
The red of the rock. The green of the forests. The road that cuts through the mountain.
Just a few kilometres from Lieuche, the Gorges du Cians offer one of the most spectacular landscapes in the Alpes-Maritimes.
As you follow the road, the scenery changes.
The pale cliffs gradually give way to deep-coloured rocks, right through to an intense red. This striking contrast has earned the region the nickname “Colorado niçois”, given to the dramatic landscapes of the Gorges du Cians and Daluis.
A road that becomes a journey
Here, the drive is part of the experience.
The road winds between the mountains, passes through the gorges and, at each bend, reveals new panoramas.
Every outing becomes a discovery.

Close the door, cross the village… and set off on foot to explore the landscapes around Lieuche.
Pont de la Chaudanne
From the village square in Lieuche, a footpath gently leads you out of the village and down through a rural landscape of old terraces, nature and mountains.
As you walk, the path takes you to the Pont de la Chaudanne, which spans the valley in a beautiful rocky setting.
An ideal walk to get some fresh air, admire the scenery and discover the surroundings of Lieuche at your own pace.

Lieuche is also an excellent starting point for hiking enthusiasts.
Several routes start from the village or its surroundings, including:
Le Tour du Grand Palier
A hike of around 9.3 km, alternating meadows, forest, scrubland and marl valleys, with beautiful views over the surrounding villages.
Le Tour du Grand Palier et des Blaches
A longer loop of around 14.5 km, crossing varied landscapes and passing through the Thiéry area.
Towards the Brec d’Ilonse
A more challenging route of around 16.4 km, climbing through the forests to the Col de Saint-Pons and offering views towards the Mercantour.
Here, sometimes all you need to do is close the door… and start walking.
Between mountains, villages and wide-open spaces
Lieuche is also ideally located for exploring the Alpes d’Azur.
Hilltop villages, gorges, mountain roads and footpaths offer endless possibilities for exploring the region.
The Beuil–Valberg resort, about 23 km away, also offers a range of mountain activities depending on the season.
But it’s also possible not to plan anything at all.
To simply stay in the village.
To read in the garden.
To gaze at the mountains.
Or to end the day in the hot tub.
And then… head back home
After a day of exploring, hiking or simply relaxing, return to the comfort of your home.
